The year is 1580 and Nobunaga Oda is working to consolidate his power over Japan. 主人公の来留間慎一は、父親の来留間源三博士ら13人の科学者によって“新人間（ニューマン）”を生み出す研究の実験台にされる。その結果、慎一は鷹・ライオン・熊を体内にもつ新人間＝魔獣に変身。怒りに燃える慎一は父への復讐を胸に、次々と襲い

Mazinger Z vs. Devilman is a 1973 animated movie that crossed over two then-popular Anime series, both of which were created by Manga artist Go Nagai. While fighting with some of his enemies Mazinger Z inadvertently knocks them into a volcano, where they crash into the prison of the Satan race and release Phoenix Jenny! Dr. Hell, learning of this, frees the rest of the Satan race and teams up with them to defeat Mazinger Z, and their ability to fly proves to be too much for our hero. Meanwhile, Devilman is also individually fighting the members of the Satan race, but their combined power is too much for him as well; can Mazinger and Devilman put aside their differences and team up to defeat Dr. Hell and the Satan race?

《星星舰队》是一部经典的科幻木偶剧，是1980年日本富士台受了星战影响模仿了《雷鸟神机队》而作，剧本是著名的永井豪。故事里的人物都栩栩如生，有着独特的传奇色彩，让所有关注星星舰队的影迷们都有着难忘的经典
这部影片的出产地既不是欧洲、也不是美国，它是正儿八经、原汁原味的日本货。当然，里面的人偶技术是使用了Gerry Anderson在他的一系列作品中发明出来的“Supermarionation”技术（日本人则进一步地改进完善），另外顺应潮流，剧情上也有不少星球大战的痕迹。
日文原名是《Xボンバー》，1980年播出的半年期特摄人偶剧。《星星舰队》（Star Fleet）是它在欧美放映时的译名。
另外不要惊讶，原作者是动漫爱好者众所周知的永井豪。这样大家就能理解为什么里面会出现3机合体的机器人。
中国大陆当时的情况是，首先中央台90、91年一个专门展出海外儿童影视作品的栏目里播过开头的数集，但是没放完。后来过了几年，97、98年那时分别在熊猫俱乐部和小神龙俱乐部播出过全剧，配音似乎是辽艺负责的。
日本本土的反应不佳（很容易理解的原因），不过输送到欧美尤其是英国后却相当受欢迎。

少年・天馬三郎が暮らす平和な町に、関東に君臨する凶悪な暴走族「ヘルスウインド」がやってきた。三郎は「ヘルスウインド」に恋人を殺されたジュンと出会い、共に戦うことを決意するが、奴らは暴虐の限りを尽くした挙句、三郎の担任である女教師をさらって逃走。そこへ、伝説の大男バイオレンスジャックが現われた！

漫画家・永井豪の代表作のひとつである『バイオレンス・ジャック』をアニメ化した初のOVA。キャラクターデザインは『装甲騎兵ボトムズ』などのアニメーター谷口守泰が手がけた。
隕石群の落下が引き金となって日本全土の地殻変動を誘発した結果、大地震が発生。地震で荒廃した日本は覇者スラムキングによって征服されつつあった。一方キングは、自らが宿敵と見定めた謎多き大男バイオレンス・ジャックの行方を追う。そんな中、キングの右腕であるハーレムボンバーは、自分の統治地域ハーレムオペラの郊外でジャックらしき大男が現われたという情報を得る。ジャックを狙って出撃するハーレムボンバーだったが。
本作は原作漫画の基本設定を踏襲しつつ、隕石が地震を誘発させたことなど、アニメ独自の要素を投入。物語もアニメオリジナルの内容で、ハーレムボンバーたちは本作用の新キャラクターだった。
