Two middle-aged brothers fall in love with a tango singer they have met in a gambling hall, after she is stranded in their border mining town, causing them to turn against each other.

Mario Soffici (14 May 1900 - 10 May 1977) was an Italian born Argentine film director, actor and screenwriter of the classic era. A native of Florence, Soffici moved the Argentina in the 1920s and began acting in 1931 and directing in 1935 on the film El Alma de Bandoneón, working with popular actors of the period such as Libertad Lamarque in tango-based musical films. He directed some 40 films between 1935 and 1962, most notably El Curandero (1955), El hombre que debía una muerte (1955) and Rosaura a las 10 (1958). He died at Buenos Aires in 1977.

An idealistic intern is doing his best to survive a very tough day on the job. When not scurrying from one patient to another, he tries to maintain equilibrium in his romance with a nurse. Comedy dovetails neatly into tragedy, which in turn segues smoothly into heart-tugging pathos.
