From a Charles Bukowski poem

Set on a South American island. Further details TBA.

Martin and Hazel Quarrier are small-town fundamentalist missionaries sent to the jungles of South America to convert the Indians. Their remote mission was previously run by the Catholics, before the natives murdered them all. They are sent by the pompous Leslie Huben, who runs the missionary effort in the area but who seems more concerned about competing with his Catholic 'rivals' than in the Indians themselves. Hazel is terrified of the Indians while Martin is fascinated. Soon American pilot Lewis Moon joins the Indian tribe but is attracted by Leslie's young wife, Andy. Can the interaction of these characters and cultures, and the advancing bulldozers of civilization, avoid disaster?

Jarmusch told The Playlist that he was preparing to shoot his next film — and, in a surprising twist for the director and Sqürl collaborator, the new film may feature no music whatsoever. “The film we’re preparing now for late this year to shoot, probably, I think, may have no music,” he explained. “It’s a very subtle film; it’s very quiet. And I think music could move it too much one way — it’s a funny and sad film, right? It sort of has both woven in. I don’t know if I wanna have music to add some other thing over it. It doesn’t really want it so far.” Exoskeleton an emerging production company is reportedly developing a new project titled as, ‘Father Mother Sister Brother’. More than 20 contemporary North American poets recite, sing, and perform their work. Several also comment. Early in the film, Charles Bukowski talks about the energy of poets and of a poem. These poets are energetic performers, and their poems are meant to be heard. These poets are the children of Walt Whitman and of Charles Olson, incantatory and oratorical, radical, sometimes incorporating contemporary political imagery. Black Mountain poets, the Beats, minimalists like John Cage, the wordless Four Horsemen, Tom Waits, and others capture aspects of poets as troubadours

A portrait of Keith Richards that takes us on a journey to discover the genesis of his sound as a songwriter, guitarist and performer.

An alcoholic drifter spends Halloween in his hometown of Albany, New York after returning there for the first time in decades.

A mediocre musician goes on the road in search of the world's greatest guitar maker.

Tom Waits is one of the most original musicians of the last five decades. Renowned for his gravelly voice and dazzling mix of musical styles, he's also one of modern music's most enigmatic and influential artists. His songs have been covered by Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart and Norah Jones, among many others. But Waits has always pursued his own creative vision, with little concern for musical fashion. In a long career of restless reinvention, from the barfly poet of his early albums to the junkyard ringmaster of Swordfishtrombones, his songs chronicle lives from the margins of American society - drifters, dreamers, hobos and hoodlums - and his music draws on a rich mix of influences, including the blues, jazz, Weimar cabaret and film noir. Using rare archive, audio recordings and interviews, this film is a bewitching after-hours trip through the surreal, moonlit world of Waits' music - a portrait of a pioneering musician and his unique, alternative American songbook.

If you’re unfamiliar with John Baldessari, that’s all about to change … and in less than six minutes’ time. Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the co-directors of “Catfish” and “Paranormal Activity 3,” paint a portrait of the artist in “A Brief History of John Baldessari.” Narrator Tom Waits (Tom Waits!) guides you through a fascinating (and very, very funny) montage of the highlights of Baldessari’s life and career, both notable and trivial, from the mass burning (or “cremating,” rather) of all his paintings down to the name of his dog. “I will not make any boring art” is the personal mantra and crusade of this revolutionary conceptual artist, known mostly for his work with found photography and appropriated images. This is certainly not a boring movie.

This shortcut repeats the structure of Coffee and Cigarettes. This time, Iggy Pop and Tom Waits meet in a bar. But, again, we don't know why they agreed to do that in the first place, because they don't seem to know each other very well and they don't have much to talk about, so the conversation wanders idly and hilariously as they sip their coffee and smoke cigarettes.
