China. Mid 90's. HONG Tao, thirty years old, moved from the countryside to Beijing where he works in a fancy restaurant. He lives with a strange secret since the cultural revolution. Back then, his father was a famous Mao's portrait painter and he was obsessed by the leader's representation. He started tattooing Mao's portraits on human skins. HONG Tao, oppressed by this heavy inheritance, wants to hide it from the world. But a new wave of unscrupulous antique collectors will do anything to get their hands on them.

《春花开》讲述的是，年过四十的谢春花寡居多年，在一个塑料花厂工作，感情生活游离于现实与幻想之间，她的侄女因为要找工作，带来了两个年轻人明月和秋生，春花与这两位年轻人各自产生了一种暧昧的关系。

故事发生在位于江南的偏僻村庄之中，一位老太太守着一座空空的屋子，以及屋子里一块巨大的砚台。一位古董收藏家发现了这块砚台，想要将它买走，却遭到了老太太的拒绝。然而，收藏家却并没有气馁，而是三番五次的来探望老太太，给她带来外界的讯息，久而久之，老太太和收藏家熟稔起来，老太太开始向收藏家讲述她过去的故事。 曾经，在老太太还是个少女的时候，她嫁给了吴家大少爷，过上了少奶奶的幸福生活。然而，随着时间的推移，这位少奶奶始终没有怀上孩子，这让吴家老爷感到十分焦急。四处求医问药无果的少爷决定让少奶奶怀上男仆阿根的孩子。

Xiao Bo arrives in Beijing, gets a job at a boutique, and is invited to stay with his lady boss, Ah Qing, and her husband, Kang. Knowing that Xiao Bo is still single, his host tries to introduce him to her best friend, Ah Meng. After a few dates, Ah Meng begins to suspect Xiao Bo is gay. She tells Ah Qing, who then informs her husband Kang. After learning this, Kang attempts to rape Xiao Bo when his wife isn't at home. Xiao Bo leaves the house, quits his job and joins his old friend, Chong Chong, and realizes that he has a gay lover, Gui Gui. Some time later, Ah Qing confesses to Kang that she had an affair with Ah Meng.
