At 35, Andrés leads a quiet life; he lives in Mexico City and has a girlfriend he plans to marry. His only relative is his mother Clara, who came to Mexico fleeing from the Spanish dictatorship years ago. One day, by chance, Andrés finds out he has a grandfather who lives in a village in Galicia. This news causes such an emotional response in him that he decides to leave everything and travel to Spain to reconstruct his own past and meet Justino, his grandfather.

Cristina Carver (Angelica Maria) finds herself in dire straits after she arrives to spend some time with her TV-reporter husband (Dean Stockwell) who is visiting a Latin American country run by a military dictator. After a car accident one day, Cristina brings the helpful Col. Kostik (Donald Pleasence) home and then kills him in self-defense when he violently attempts to rape and murder her. Terrified, she covers up her act and hides the body, yet in spite of her husband's efforts to protect her, a local police detective starts to figure out what really happened.

The story of two half brothers who do not know they are such, who fight over a woman and nearly kill each other. One of them belongs to Los Gavilanes, a group of men who live live hidden and looting to give to the poor.
