今泉監督、城定脚本による「猫は逃げた」は、飼い猫のカンタをどちらが引き取るかで揉める離婚直前の夫婦とそれぞれの恋人という不器用な男女4人の恋愛狂騒劇となっている。

在好友宫田（Miyata）的陪同下，佐野（Sano）回到了日本的海滨度假胜地伊豆，五年前他在这里爱上了如今已故的妻子的凪（Nagi）。佐野初次邂逅亡妻的海边旅馆如今濒临倒闭，他重返故地，试图找回一顶五年前丢失的红色帽子，那是彼时爱的信物，也是此时失落的证明。

The film takes place in Tokyo during the Olympics amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Tired of rushing through life, young people gather at a small guesthouse in Tokyo, where they explore their own paths and grow through new relationships and experiences. The youthful ensemble drama is centered around the theme of a "break" and depicts the modest growth of young people.
