The name Judas is familiar to many of us. The traitor. The scorned man. A man condemned century after century for his cunning cowardice and who to this day deserves no pardon - or - is that perhaps half a story?
When you hear the name Judas, you think of betrayal. He is the man who agreed to hand over Jesus in exchange for 30 silver coins. That is the official version. However, in the Gospel of Judas, Jesus asks Judas to betray him, which means he did it because Jesus himself had asked him to. And that is strange, because Judas’ deed leads to the crucifixion of Jesus.

Robert Icke became fascinated by this other version of the story: Judas as the true, perfect disciple of Jesus. A play about the positive side of betrayal.

In the middle of the 19th century, three Jewish brothers emigrate from Bavaria to America. In the Deep South they start a small fabric shop and become wealthy in the cotton trade. Their family business develops into a dizzying financial empire that is handed down from generation to generation. In 2008 it is jointly responsible for the financial and banking crisis. This is how Lehman Brothers self-destructs.

With Lehman Trilogy, the Italian author Stefano Massini not only wrote the story of a family, but also the history of ruthless American capitalism. Slavery and industrialization, war and new technological developments: whatever happens in America and even globally, the Lehmans always know how to make good money out of it. Everything they plan to do – including getting married and having children – is tested in advance against the question: what will it yield? Gradually, the technology and impersonality of the financial system become part of the relationships within the family.

Director Eline Arbo adapted Michael Cunningham's The Hours for the stage. The Hours is set on one day in the lives of three women, at three different times in the 20th century.
The Hours takes place on one day in the lives of three women, at three different moments in the 20th century. The day in 1923 when Virginia Woolf starts work on her masterpiece Mrs Dalloway. A mundane day of Laura Brown, an American housewife in 1949, when she escapes her seemingly perfect life in the suburbs in reading Woolf's novel. The late spring day in 1998, on which Clarissa Vaughan organises a party for her poet-friend Richard who is severely ill.

Both the book and the successful film adaptation by Stephen Daldry (with Nicole Kidman and Meryl Streep, among others) have become classics.

In Eline Arbo's adaptation, Cunningham's loving literary observation becomes visible on stage: she creates a world where the writer shares space with his characters. Meanwhile, the women struggle with the roles assigned to them, each seeking their own way of freedom.

In her debut novel The Laws, Connie Palmen tells the story of a woman in search of herself. Seven encounters with seven men over seven years. We see how she grows into being a writer and gives meaning to her life thanks to and despite these encounters.
Within the year of publication, this book sold over 400,000 copies. Thirty years later, it has become a modern classic. Eline Arbo makes a contemporary adaptation in which the characters are detached from gender and origin.

For her adaptation of Weg met Eddy Bellegueule (Away with Eddy Bellegueule), Eline Arbo won the Regieprijs 2020 (Directing Award 2020). Last season, she directed the hit performance The Years based on the book by Annie Ernaux, the most recent winner of the Nobel Prize for literature. For ITA, she previously directed The Hours after the novel by Michael Cunningham and Penthesilea by Heinrich von Kleist. Since September 2023, Eline Arbo is Artistic Director at ITA.

A middle-aged woman spends a few days at a friends' game lodge in the Alps. When the befriended couple has not returned home one night, she, accompanied by their dog Luchs, goes in search of them. In the mountains, she encounters an invisible, impenetrable wall that completely isolates her from the rest of the world. Solange and Claire are two housemaids who construct elaborate sadomasochistic rituals when their mistress (Madame) is away. The focus of their role-playing is the murder of Madame and they take turns portraying both sides of the power divide. Their deliberate pace and devotion to detail guarantees that they always fail to actualize their fantasies by ceremoniously "killing" Madame at the ritual's dénouement.
