Popeye arrives in a suit of armor to take Olive for her first driving lesson. Between her literal-mindedness ("choke the engine"), inexperience, an inattentiveness, she has several accidents, culminating in a showdown with a locomotive.

Popeye's nephews would rather have hamburgers than spinach, so Popeye recounts some of his past exploits where spinach saved the day.

The housekeeper does her best to get nourishing food into Little Audrey, but the only thing Audrey wants is candy. And she wants lots of it. The housekeeper banishes Audrey to her room, but the cunning girl has sweets hidden in bags that hang outside her bedroom window. The angry servant finds every last piece of candy in the room and takes it away. Soon, Audrey has candy withdrawal and even gets the sweet-tooth version of delirium tremens. A nightmare sends her to a Candy Horror Land where evil candy canes and sinister licorice drops force-feed her all the candy she doesn't want.

Shore leave; Olive refuses to go out with either of the boys until they get a shave and haircut (Popeye actually has stubble). Barber Wimpy is out, so they take turns. First Popeye takes care of Bluto, making him actually look presentable; then it's Bluto's turn to give Popeye the works of course, he's going to get a different treatment.

Popeye and Olive board a run-down ship, which turns out to be haunted.

Casper the Friendly Ghost, sad that he can make no friends since everyone he meets is afraid of him, hatches an abandoned egg and becomes the emerging little duck's best friend and protector.

Popeye and Bluto are, believe it or not, pals and partners in a moving company. (Maybe it's because Popeye isn't squinting here.) Anyhow, Olive has made the mistake of hiring them. She hasn't finished packing yet, so the boys, smitten as soon as she answers the door, compete to help her. Once packed, they compete to move more impressive piles of her belongings. Popeye easily wins these contests, even though Bluto locks him in the van at one point. At the end, Bluto socks Popeye into the piano, then into a table; though he hardly seems to need it, Popeye still eats his spinach, then thrashes Bluto.

Tom's owner, Clint Clobber, is grilling steaks in his backyard. The steak's scent reaches Jerry, who is aroused by it and is led to the steak.

Tom joins his owner on a hunting safari in Kenya. Jerry has hidden himself in the Clint's luggage, and Tom quickly sees him and attempts to get rid of him.

While chasing Jerry around a dock, Tom sees and instantly falls in love with a female cat. The female cat appears to return Tom's interest, so Tom sneaks aboard the ship the female cat and her owner have just boarded. Jerry follows Tom onto the boat and proceeds to interfere with Tom's subsequent flirtations.

Tom accompanies his owner, Clint Clobber, who has severe anger management issues, on a fishing trip.
