眾人一定要抓到死囚，那人要小燕幫他去拿一個袋子，("Try Not to Be Afraid")阿摩斯出現並向小燕打聽祕密，承諾會讓他吻她。("A Kiss is a Terrible Thing to Waste")拿袋子時小燕被阿摩斯救回一命，便把祕密告知了他，誰知警長和艾爾都聽到了。此時那人照顧的小貓死了，眾人安慰貓主羅賓("If Only (Reprise)")，並向那人詢問。那人說了個比喻，表明人人都會死。("Charlie Christmas")干蒂等了阿摩斯很久也沒出現，("Off Ramp Exit to Paradise")等到了阿摩斯卻問她小燕在那裡，因為他思疑那人便是死囚。蒙在鼓裡的干蒂很氣憤，艾爾出現解釋一切，干蒂便把消息傳遍鎮上。("Safe Heaven (Reprise)")
眾人磨拳擦掌，準備與死囚決一死戰，("Wrestle with the Devil")要救出他們的孩子。("The Hunt")孩子們圍成圓圈保護著那人，那人坦承自己是死囚，並向小燕說他的確不是主耶穌。("Nature of the Beast")小燕和小朋友們依然拼死保護他，因為他們已經產生不可思議的相互依賴感。終於那人明白這樣下去不是辦法，便放火燒屋，把所有小朋友推到安全地方，自己逃走了。小燕和小朋友們抱持著希望，為已經遠去的那人祝福。("Whistle Down the Wind")
