When a young yakuza torments the customers in a rival crime family's nightclub, it is not long before his dead body is found. The Katakuri family has just opened their guest house in the mountains. Unfortunately their first guest commits suicide and in order to avoid trouble they decide to bury him in the backyard. Things get way more complicated when their second guest, a famous sumo wrestler, dies while having sex with his underage girlfriend and the grave behind the house starts to fill up more and more.

经过七年的放浪生活，助六赚了15两的黄金，他身心疲惫，但还想著回家为母亲建一个像样的坟墓，回到阔别的家乡，的确有种亲切的感觉，但助六总觉得这里气氛怪怪的，似乎整个村子都垄罩在一种神秘兮兮的空气中，真是天意弄人，一直在为了报仇的助六，又卷入自己生父寻仇的队伍，在村子里，他遇上从小一起长大的太郎(村田雄浩 饰)，现在太郎已经是驿站官员，他告诉助六村子里将要进行一场复仇行动，对方是七年前杀了同僚的元八州官吏片仓梅太郎(仲代达矢 饰)，听到这事，助六一下精神就来了，马上向太郎申请加入，太郎爽快答应，助六趁闲又去了趟母亲的墓地，在哪里不知是谁摆了一圈菊花，让助六有点那闷。
从墓地一回到村子，太郎就找上助六到小酒馆走走，事先约好的另几个复仇者已在那边等待，经过一番仔细的筹画，就匆匆的散去，助六有点心神恍惚，让他难以平静的是站在酒馆二楼默默注视自己的那个女人，他知道是太郎的妹妹仙(玲木京香 饰)，走到小时後常玩的那间棺材店，助六遇到他的父亲片仓，片仓劝告助六，可是助六只觉得这个人好像以前见过，却没多加理会，棺材店的老爷爷好像知道隐情，但这时候关东八州的治安官神原识部(岸部一德 饰)来了，片仓悄悄的放了一团菊花在预先为自己做好的棺材里，然後慢慢的躺了去……。
