During the second season, Maddy Piper, an investigative reporter, whom Susan knew and didn't like in high school join the magazine and took great in putting eveybody down. During the third season, Susan and Jack tried to have a relationship. During the fourth season, Jack, Maddy and Todd were gone. The Gate was bought by the overbearing Ian Maxtone Graham. Accompanying him were his secretary, Miranda, and Nate, a sportwriter. And dropping by every now and then, and catching Susan's attention is Oliver, a friend of Ian's and a freelance photographer.
