In a neighborhood of Athens lives a slightly eccentric kiosk owner, Manolios, who is searching for the man responsible for his father's death. His clientele consists mainly of the residents of the neighboring apartment building. It is a microcosm with its own problems and gossip: the grumpy owner of the apartment building, his son, the scatterbrained concierge, a young student, and a few others. Inevitably, minor conflicts arise among them and various emotions develop, such as Manolis' love for the student, who, however, clearly desires the son of the apartment building's owner.

A newly wed couple cannot pay the installments for their house. Thus, Irene finds a secretary position at the firm George is working at, pretending she is George's sister. The company director, a womanizer, is flirting with her and asks her to marry him, while his sister starts flirting with George . . .

Lena Konstantinidi, a wealthy young woman who is paralyzed, falls in love with a poor student, Alexis, who sells newspapers to earn money for his studies. The evil stepmother Elsa, who envies her husband's daughter, is opposed to this marriage and does everything she can to thwart it, even going so far as to accuse Alexis of stealing a valuable statuette. However, her plans are completely ruined, thanks to Alex's kindness and the help of a young street vendor whom Alex had taken into his home after the death of his mother.
