A singer Pappan (Rahman) is killed in a bike accident, but Yamaraj the Lord of Death (Thilakan) realizes that Pappan has a few more days to live. Yamarajan allows Pappan to enter into bodies of other dead people including that of Inspector Devdas (Mohanlal) in a bid to tell his girlfriend Sarina (Lizy) that Pappan is dead, and to look forward to someone else in life.

Esthappan is a fisherman, who lives in a seashore colony. His story unfolds through narrations by other fishermen about his miraculous acts. Through the contradictory statements of these people, a mystical figure of Esthappan unfolds.

A renowned actress, Aswathi, is murdered. When a CBI officer, Sethurama Iyer, investigates the case, he unravels a dark secret about Aswathi which brings forth several complexities.
