Juliane Engelhardt travaille à la réception de la société de cosmétiques «Winter Cosmetics International». Ce n'est pas exactement le travail dont elle avait rêvé, mais elle est tout de même satisfaite. En effet, depuis qu'elle a interrompu ses études de médecine, Juliane ne sait pas trop quoi faire. Lorsqu' Annelore Zimmermann, la dévouée secrétaire du directeur, s'effondre après une crise cardiaque, le docteur Philip Richter a rapidement besoin d'une remplaçante dans son secrétariat. La présence d'esprit dont Juliane a fait preuve et qui a sauvé la vie de Mme Zimmermann lui vaut d'être subitement nommée au poste de secrétaire adjointe. Or, elle n'a aucune notion de secrétariat.
