Unni (Nedumudi Venu) and Sethu (Sukumaran) are two bachelor friends staying together in Chennai. Though irritating at sometimes, with his music talents, the house owner Varma (Jagathi Sreekumar), a music director is always ready to financially support them at times. The arrival of Radha (Poornima Jayaram) creates a friction in the friendship between Unni and Sethu.

The story follows Abdullah (Mohanlal) who is hired by the members of a wealthy royal family to assassinate the family head Maharaja Udayavarma (Nedumudi Venu). Abdullah comes into the royal palace under the disguise Ananthan Namboothiri, a classical singer, and tries to use this mask to softly kill the Maharaja.

Along with that he has to solve the problems in his family, which his brother (Innocent) and brother-in-law (Jagathy Sreekumar) creates. he marries his long-term fiancée Sulochana (Urvashi) who always cribs that he doesn't have love towards her, which he had shown before their marriage. How sethumadhavan succeeds in his life beating all the odds against him forms the rest of the story.

Balachandran had resorted to his work after he is unable to cope up with the death of his wife, Bhama. During the process, he neglects his only son, Appu. When Appu returns home for his school vacation, Balachandran promises to take him on a lot of trips, but is unable to do any as he is caught up with work. Pappayude Swantham Appoos movie is all about the bonds between the father and his son.
