人一生中要喝多少杯咖啡，流多少眼泪，用掉多少洗澡水？英国广播公司4频道定于26日播出的纪录片“人类足迹”，不仅收集了人们生活中吃穿住用各项数据，而且通过搭设布景，将数据直观展现在观众面前。
突发奇想
这部纪录片的创意来源于制片人尼克·沃茨3年前的一个想法。一次在酒吧喝酒时，沃茨突发奇想:“假如把我一生中喝下的啤酒全都倒入游泳池，能不能把它装满？”接下来的两年间，沃茨和节目组成员收集了几百项数据。数据来源包括英国环境、食品和农村事务部、国家统计办公室、市场研究机构和慈善团体等。沃茨说，“我们想知道，如果把穿过的衣服、用过的洗衣机和卫生纸，或者是今后要吃掉的面包和喝下的咖啡全堆在门前，会是什么样子。”
数据丰富
节目组收集的数据涵盖了英国人从出生到去世整个生命过程中的方方面面。比如，两岁半前，每名婴儿平均要用3796块尿布。按照英国人均寿命78.5岁计算，每人一共眨眼4.15亿次、流泪68.7升、洗7163次澡、做104390次梦、平均每天说4200个单词、放15次屁。英国人一生一共要吃下1.08万根胡萝卜、1万块巧克力；喝下8500升牛奶和5700升啤酒。数据还显示，终其一生，英国人总共要打开628份圣诞礼物、交1700个朋友、购买价值3万英镑(合5.7万美元)的衣服、消耗4239卷卫生纸、276管牙膏和198瓶洗发精。平均每人拥有8部汽车、3.5台洗衣机、4.8台电视和9.8台DVD机。
此外，英国人均有305个朋友死于心脏病，179个朋友死于中风，111个朋友死于流感或者肺炎，99个朋友死于肺癌。最让沃茨感到吃惊的是，英国人一生中平均会吸7.7万支香烟。
直观展示
纪录片还用画面形式将这些数据直观地呈现给观众。“我对数字非常着迷，但我想让它们具有直观的形象，这样才能产生真正的冲击力。”沃茨说。
这些画面都没有经过电脑合成或特殊效果处理，而是取自真实的布景。工作人员用几个月时间在多塞特郡一个农场搭建了很多布景，比如用1万块巧克力搭成的房子，还有人们一生中吃下的845罐豆子填满的浴池等。节目播出前，沃茨在特拉法尔加广场摆放了74802杯茶来宣传他的节目。这个数字正是人一生中喝下的茶的总杯数。
