Elodie a seize ans.

Lucie (Le Besco) is a normal working-class teenager with a doting, if not always understanding mother, and one obsession - she's crazy about glamorous, radiant, unreal pop idol Lauren (Seigner). One day her mother arranges to give Lucie her dearest wish, and has Lauren visit her at home for a surprise TV appearance. Things, predictably, don't turn out as planned, and a distraught Lucie pursues her idol to Paris, where her hotel suite is besieged by other monomaniac fans. Somehow, Lucie makes it through to the star's inner circle to find that the showbiz dream isn't all it's cracked up to be. A timely story about the nature of fame, fan worship, showbiz illusion and exploitation, Emmanuelle Bercot's story gives the theme a distinctive twist in focusing on female-female fan obsession, with all that entails in terms of narcissism and lesbian desire. Mixing cold realism, fantasy and hothouse melodrama, Backstage is heady, intense and often moving, and provides another platform for Isild Le Besco (seen last year in Benoît Jacquot's À toute de suite), who is fast establishing herself as one of France's most compelling young performers. Benoit turns 13 and develops an intense crush on his godmother, Marion. As they lie on beaches in the summer, she humors him by talking about the mysteries of women.

In the hospital where she works in Brest, France, a lung specialist discovers a direct link between suspicious deaths and state-approved medicine. She fights single-handedly for the truth to come out.

Nineteen-year-old Laura is stressed by her first year at college when money worries distract her from her studies and so, desperate for cash, she answers an online advertisement for intimate companionship that leads her down a dangerous path.

The film tells the story of Malony and his education as he grows from a six-year-old into an 18-year-old. A minors’ judge and a caseworker work tirelessly to try to save the young offender.

Deneuve plays sassy grandmother Bettie who takes to the road after being betrayed by her lover and learning her business is on the verge of bankruptcy on the same day. During a weeklong odyssey across France, she spends time with a grandson she hardly knows and reconnects with her past as former Miss Brittany through a reunion for former beauty queens.

The film tells the story of three people for a year: a son (Magimel) diagnosed with cancer, a mother (Deneuve) suffering from helplessness and a doctor (Cécile de France) to do her job: One year and four seasons for these three characters to deal with the disease, to tame it, and to understand what it means to die while alive.
