A modern parable about three brothers whom life has divided as they each went their separate ways. Of their happy childhood and adolescent years together, only a black-and-white photograph remains, capturing the three young men at a table in front of their family home, and memories of the glasshouse that was their father's pride. The youngest brother is now trying to seek the meaning of a dream in which he meets up once more with his two older brothers whom he hasn't seen for years. The oldest is married but longs vainly for a child. The middle son has focused his life on spiritual meditation, and the youngest rises up against any form of authority. The conflicts, ill will and mutual lack of understanding are veiled by images of the times the boys swam in the sea together and built sandcastles. But there is still a little love left, which cannot be destroyed entirely, nor driven from the hearts of people once so tightly bound.

提到“吉尔吉斯斯坦”这个国家，恐怕你和我一样，可能要想上半天才能将它地理位置从那早已还给老师好多年的地理课本上确定出来。吉尔吉斯斯坦是个位于中亚的小国家，是前苏联加盟共和国之一，于１９９１年苏联解体后独立。正因为它是一个附骥于苏联老大哥的小国，就好比是别人家一个养子一样，所以没有多少人会去关注它。 巴斯柏是个被人收养的弃婴，这个胖乎乎的孩子天生显得落落寡合。奶奶去世之后，他知道了被养父母隐瞒了十多年的身世，而他却也真正成长起来。 在独立近的１０年后的１９９８年，吉尔吉斯斯坦导演雅坦·阿迪卡可夫拍摄出个人首部长片，同时也是吉尔吉斯斯坦独立之后首部独立制作的影片。影片也从本质上脱离了苏联电影的影响，故事虽然简单，却拍得清新动人毫不造作。也许，那些童年的玩意能勾起你的无限思忆。片名Ｔｈｅ　Ａｄｏｐｔｅｄ　Ｓｏｎ（养子）可谓暗蕴深意，影片曾在２００１年第２５届香港电影节“独立时代————亚洲新电影与录像”专题单元放映
