I loved the demo of this as a kid

Mainly it's the Wallace-&-Gromit-style graphics (which have aged really well) and a very simple and intuitive, yet cerebral enough gameplay that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. Much more so I loved the sequel which I remember choosing over some other proper 3D action game at the store. What was I thinking, right? But no, I actually ended up spending many fond hours with that game. In retrospect I definitely made the right choice.

But there's a reason I never really had the urge to go back to the first game. I think it's the monotonous visuals. Every level is taking place in the same house with slight alterations. The sequel had much more variety.

Honestly though, it's still a fun game, but I can't enjoy it anymore. Looking at it as an adult, the protagonist seems like an annoying asshole. And at first the fact that this was (in the game's setting) a cheery reality show about giving your neighbor a heart attack was mildly amusing to me.

But then I got this one level where this lonely middle-aged man, in preparation for a visit from his mom, is working on a statue of hers among other things. And we have to destroy the statue. And see, this gameplay is kinda based around memorizing the order of the neighbor's activities, so he can't break the order. He keeps coming back to that statue and just ... crying.

And I just wanna kms, wtf have I done...
