let's see, a humble beggar from a foreign land approaches the castle of an almost comicly cruel Marquis and I wonder where this could possibly be going That's my reaction to the firrst few minutes. But it doesn't go there. This isn't a particularly good Hammer film, but it is kind of entertaining to watch the plot veering all over the place. "I hit that animal, fair and square!" oh. oh really. did the wolf have a gun too?
