<p>finished watching <a href="https://neodb.social/search?r=1&q=https://neodb.social/movie/2f1AE67H24Ut66pl9DXeTs" rel="nofollow">Novocaine</a> 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑 <br>Are <a href="/tags/cipa/" rel="tag">#CIPA</a> movies a thing? I learned it existed thanks to an episode of House (I owe that show most of my medical "knowledge") Years later I watched that little movie where the protagonist is an assassin insensitive to pain, The Midnight Man (2016) <a href="https://neodb.social/movie/0VkEK52ooUYWCGksk08HyL" rel="nofollow" class="ellipsis" title="neodb.social/movie/0VkEK52ooUYWCGksk08HyL"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">neodb.social/movie/0VkEK52ooUY</span><span class="invisible">WCGksk08HyL</span></a> Now there's Novocaine too, that I know of. CIPA keeps coming up on my screen without me having ever looked for it.<br> <br>I'm wondering if these shows help by raising awareness of a rare disorder, I did read a couple of articles after I watched House, so it kind of worked for me, I'm aware. Maybe some public interest could even get studies funded... or maybe this kind of thing (not talking about Novocaine in particular) is just a bit exploitative and doesn't help any patients at all.</p><p>Opinions welcome.</p><p><a href="/tags/hsaniv/" rel="tag">#HSANIV</a> <a href="/tags/films/" rel="tag">#films</a> <a href="/tags/tv/" rel="tag">#tv</a> <a href="/tags/spoonies/" rel="tag">#spoonies</a> <a href="/tags/polyneuropathy/" rel="tag">#polyneuropathy</a> <a href="/tags/awareness/" rel="tag">#awareness</a> <a href="/tags/health/" rel="tag">#health</a> <a href="/tags/media/" rel="tag">#media</a></p><p><a href="/tags/ersneodb/" rel="tag">#ERSneodb</a></p>

<p>Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities ♿ </p><p>On social media, it's important that we consider how disabled people interact with their digital community and make their voices heard. </p><p>Something as simple as adding ALT text to your images, or being mindful of ableist language, can help disabled people feel more welcome in this space. </p><p>We know it's a long way from perfect, but we want to help the Social Web feel welcoming to all. </p><p><a href="/tags/personswithdisabilities/" rel="tag">#PersonsWithDisabilities</a> <a href="/tags/disabled/" rel="tag">#Disabled</a> <a href="/tags/awareness/" rel="tag">#Awareness</a></p>
