<p>Si vivís en Madrid y estos días estáis viendo llamativas y enormes bandadas de lo que parecen ser gaviotas... Efectivamente, estáis viendo gaviotas, probablemente gaviotas sombrías.</p><p>Las gaviotas suelen estar asociadas al mar, pero en las últimas décadas han ido tomando el centro de la península Ibérica como ruta preferente en sus migraciones. Madrid tiene algo muy interesante que ofrecer...: basura. Literalmente: Madrid tiene varios vertederos muy convenientes ya no solo para visitarlos, sino incluso para permanecer durante todo el invierno. Esto les pasa también a las cigüeñas: la basura no es el mejor alimento, pero es alimento seguro y constante, por lo que en la ruta hacia el sur algunos contingentes deciden que casi mejor no seguir desplazándose. Además, los inviernos del centro de la península ya no son lo que eran, ahora son más “benignos”.</p><p>Así pues, cada año es más habitual ver gaviotas en la ciudad de Madrid, con dos corredores clave: el Manzanares (así que Madrid Río es un buen punto de avistamiento) y las vecindades del Jarama, alrededor del cual hay varios vertederos (siendo el de Valdemingómez el más cercano a la ciudad de Madrid).</p><p>Lo que me sorprende es estar viendo bandadas como las que estoy viendo estos días, que me recuerdan a las que veía en otoño (cuando pasan de camino al sur). Robin in a holly bush is a hand painted watercolour painting in landscape format painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. A robin sits on a branch in a holly bush and looks to the right. Three female sparrows with soft, fluffy plumage sit together on a slender branch and have a chat. The delicate feathers of the small songbirds are painted in various shades of brown with loose, gentle brushstrokes. <p>I was woken this morning by two kookaburras making a racket down the side passage. Turns out their beaks were stuck together (!)</p><p>While they scrambled and fought, trying to pull apart, a currawong sat on the fence commentating the life-or-death struggle.</p><p>After my sleepy brain had made sense of what the bloody hell was going on, I fetched some gloves and gently prised them apart.
