Robin in a holly bush is a hand painted watercolour painting in landscape format painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. A robin sits on a branch in a holly bush and looks to the right. It is surrounded by green leaves and red berries. The background is painted with loose brushstrokes in different shades of green, which form a strong colour contrast to the red winter berries of the bush and the red-orange breast feathers of the bird. The Ilex is also called Holly or Christmas Holly. The evergreen branches with the red fruits are often used for Christmas decorations.
The painting is also available in a square format and cropped to portrait format in my shop. Choose for yourself which format fits best in your rooms.

Three female sparrows with soft, fluffy plumage sit together on a slender branch and have a chat. The two birds on the left are looking to the right, the house sparrow on the far right is looking to the left towards the other two. The delicate feathers of the small songbirds are painted in various shades of brown with loose, gentle brushstrokes. The background is painted abstractly in warm shades of brown, purple, earth and chocolate. The birds appear calm, creating a peaceful composition.
I originally painted the three sparrows as individual paintings, which can also be found in my collection of bird paintings (Sparrow Meeting parts one, two and three).

<p>I was woken this morning by two kookaburras making a racket down the side passage. Turns out their beaks were stuck together (!)</p><p>While they scrambled and fought, trying to pull apart, a currawong sat on the fence commentating the life-or-death struggle.</p><p>After my sleepy brain had made sense of what the bloody hell was going on, I fetched some gloves and gently prised them apart.
