Rated Babel 8/10

mostly enjoyed this with some moments of reservation. It’s a clever concept and well-fleshed-out.

Rated The Naked Sun 8/10

Rated The Payback 8/10

a fun, breezy crime caper with a lot of personality and some clever satirical-dystopian touches

Rated The Children of Llyr 9/10

Rated Yesteryear 4/10

This felt like a strawman in novel form.

Rated The Demon of Unrest: A Saga of Hubris, Heartbreak, and Heroism at the Dawn of the Civil War 8/10

Suspenseful and detailed - achieves the goal of giving you a contemporary view of what was happening, and what people expected to happen, in the lead-up to the Civil War.

Finished reading Out of Oz

Rated 1984 10/10

Re-read this for obvious reasons. Striking things in this go-round: the frequent references to machine-made music, novels and even pornography; the preponderance of ugly little weirdos among Party members; the divestment in science that isn't weaponry- or surveillance-related.

Rated Hell Bent 8/10

Rated The Spiritual Poems of Rumi 4/10

This was a gift and it’s more decorative than anything else; the layout is beautiful but the “nonliteral” translations are so hippy-dippy and loose that they could be hanging on the wall of an AirBnB.

Rated Concerning My Daughter 7/10
