Rated The Ethical Spirit of EU Law 6/10
Provides a systemic overview of the references to ethics in EU law, presenting a (mostly, but not solely) deontological "ethical sprit" that is still undergoing a development process but is already reflected in primary, secondary, and tertiary legislation.
Rated Between Truth and Power: The Legal Constructions of Informational Capitalism 10/10
A robust analysis of the relationship between law and technology in our information economy. Rather than being entirely driven by technology — or, in the opposite direction, being its sole master — both legal institutions and technological platforms act as mediators that are at the same time shaped by the political economy and profoundly influence social life in ways that current regulatory instruments, designed for an industrial economy, are ill-equipped to deal with. Part I of the book deals with the legal structures that enable informational capitalism by establishing patterns of entitlement and disentitlement over digital resources, while Part II provides a deep dive into the changes legal institutions undergo in response to the dynamics of informational capitalism. While the book focuses on US perspectives, it often brings discussions from other jurisdictions: contrasts with EU approaches are common, while the last few chapters highlight international and transnational organisms. All in all, this book provides an excellent job of showing the substantial impacts of information technologies while avoiding technological determinism, in both its "technology will save us" and "technology will doom us" variants.
Rated On Tactics: A Theory of Victory in Battle 10/10
Rated Empirical Methods in Law 8/10
An accessible guide to how to collect and analyse data in legal contexts. Mostly deals with quantitative approaches, but a few parts might also be useful for qualitative empirical research. Given the book's age, one should also supplement it with more recent materials on specific computational methods.

Rated Atlas of AI: Power, Politics, and the Planetary Costs of Artificial Intelligence 5/10
3.5/5 stars. A compelling presentation of the power relations that affect the creation, deployment, and use of the technologies we usually label as artificial intelligence, situating them as material objects that exist within a specific political economy.

Rated Artefacts of Legal Inquiry: The Value of Imagination in Adjudication 8/10
An insightful approach to legal inquiry, drawing from a broad range of sources (such as cognitive sciences, literary theory, and the philosophy of scientific models) toward a surprisingly narrow object (adjudication in common law courts). However, some of its contributions have a broader appeal, such as the critique of the distinction between contexts of discovery and justification that some authors have borrowed from Reichenbach.
