Absolutely bonkers, but I still really liked it, especially all with the Brigadier.
Rated Dread Nation 10/10
<div>I don't remember who recommended this series to me, but I'm glad that they did because this was great. An alternate history set a few decades after the dead rising interrupts the US Civil War — sometimes this sort of thing is something I'd rather watch than read, but that wasn't the case here. The audiobook narrator also does a good job. The story keeps things moving, and the writing is direct, sometimes funny, and every character is a whole person.</div>
Rated Doctor Who: The Witch from the Well 8/10
Really enjoying Mary Shelley as a companion.
Rated Doctor Who: The Wormery 10/10
I really, really liked this! I've only ever heard Iris in one other thing before that was just okay (Panda friend notwithstanding), but apparently I needed her paired with the Sixth Doctor. A proper DW story.
Rated Eleven 8/10
<div>First off, why do so many people hate "The Quest for Blank Claveringi" ? What's not to love about 15 FT, MAN-EATING LAND-SNAILS? Come on, that is hilariously over the top, and the explorer gets eaten! Amazing. Perfect.<br><br>That said, I liked most stories in here, but cw: for "The Terrapin" because that death scene for the little turtle is a lot! Still a good story, but fair warning. I'd say this collection is more of a horror collection than mystery/regular crime fiction, but these labels are up to reader, I suppose.</div>

A great part 2 to this Eighth Doctor trilogy. And all that dark wave music! I'm looking forward to the next one, and then jumping into some of the Tenth Doctor elements of this storyline.
Rated Emergency Skin 8/10
I enjoy it when someone can pull off second person POV well.
Rated Doctor Who: Travel in Hope 8/10
<div>I was maybe a little less into the middle story, "The Butler Did It," compared to the others, but it's still good. I'm always very happy to have new Ninth Doctor stories.</div>
Rated Doctor Who: Trial of the Valeyard 10/10
Very much enjoyed this, and it adds some context to the "12 regenerations only" myth that had to be tinkered with because the show lasted so long!

Rated Doctor Who: Trouble in Paradise 8/10
This was pretty good and reminded me I should listen to more of the Sixth Doctor adventures. I'm glad they made Columbus an asshole (to put it lightly), just as he was in real life.

Much like the actual military, this tale of soldiers vying for dominance was a lot of "hurry up and wait." It took until the second half of the story for things to kick off, and once they did, there was a level of violence that is quite unlike a regular DW story, a distinct relishing in the villains' cruelty at times. Also, I did not care for the way Richards describes the women, of which there are very few. Even in times of stress or action, their bodies are described with cheap, schoolboy longing. I didn't wholly dislike the book overall, but it was definitely one of the weaker Doctor Who novels I've read.
