Rated There is no antimemetics division 5/10
This novel could have been a wiki which is I guess is how it started out. The central idea is great: how do you combat malign forces that can make you forget they exist? Going in I sort of thought this was about people fighting other people with anti-memetic technology, but it ended up being more focused on X-Files-ish eldritch horrors and cryptozoological mysteries. I was game, but the characters, such as they were, never fully inflated. Each little case sketch was fun on its own and the whole might have been more entertaining as a loose collection without any pretense toward a plot.

Rated Parable of the Talents 8/10
Parable of the Talents started showing up in my book recommendations regularly in the past year and a half. First published in 1998, its recent resurgence likely has to do with its parallels with the current religious and political climate in the US.
I found the Earthseed philosophy interesting, as it's the second novel I read recently that takes a nontheist view of religion. That and its political parallels made Parable of the Talents a hard book to read, for all the right reasons.
