Springtime In The Orchard II

Springtime In The Orchard II unfolds like a quiet breath of spring after rain, full of softness and renewal.

A long orchard row stretches into the distance, the trees standing in perfect rhythm—each one crowned with a cloud of delicate white blossoms. The petals look almost weightless, as if a single warm breeze could lift them into a gentle swirl. Their color isn’t a flat white but a living one: hints of cream, pale blush, and sunlit silver shimmering where the light touches them.

Beneath the trees, the grass glows a vivid, almost electric green—the kind that only appears after storms have washed the dust from the world. It feels lush and cool, like it would brush softly against your ankles if you stepped into the scene. The ground between the rows is a warm, earthy brown, grounding all that brightness with a sense of place and season.

The air in this image seems crisp and fragrant. You can almost smell the sweetness of the blossoms mixing with damp soil and the faint mineral scent left behind by passing rain. <p>Half Dome Spring<br>Yosemite National Park is truly a national treasure. No picture taken or painting painted that can capture the true beauty and feeling that one has when first visiting this magnificent National Park.<br>This was captured on a warm spring day. Half Dome Spring

The scene opens with Half Dome rising like a carved monolith of pale granite, its face catching soft spring light that makes the stone glow with a cool, silvery warmth. The surrounding ground cover still holds the brown, winter‑flattened tones of a forest just waking up, creating a warm, earthy base that makes the fresh blooms and bright granite feel even more vivid.

The air feels clean and cool, touched by the scent of thawing earth and fast water. The whole composition carries that unmistakable Yosemite sensation: a vast, serene stillness wrapped around a landscape full of quiet motion and returning life.

<p>Stellar Jay</p><p>This image was captured in Yosemite Valley as he was flying around keeping an eye on what appeared to be his mate, a much heavier bird that appeared to be carrying a number of eggs in her. They seemed to be on a nest building mission with the female doing most of the work.<br>These birds have become accustomed to humans flying around cleaning up campsites. Stellar Jay

A Stellar Jay fills the frame with a presence that feels both alert and regal. Its crest rises like a dark, wind‑ruffled flame, the feathers shifting from inky black at the crown into a deep midnight blue as they sweep down the neck. The transition isn’t abrupt—it feels like watching dusk melt into night, a soft gradient of shadowed color.

The bird’s eye is a glossy, liquid black, catching a pinpoint of light that makes it look sharp, curious, and fully aware of you. There’s an intensity to its gaze, the kind of look a wild creature gives when it’s deciding whether you’re a threat, a source of food, or simply part of the scenery.

Along its wings and back, the blues turn vivid—electric, saturated, almost iridescent. The feathers layer like overlapping scales, each one catching a slightly different angle of light. The effect is textured and tactile, as if you could feel the subtle ridges under your fingertips.

The jay’s posture is slightly turned, giving an over‑the‑shoulder glance that feels both casual and confident. Its body angles forward with a readiness to spring, but its head swivels back toward the viewer, crest lifted, as though it has paused mid‑movement to take stock of the world.

Behind it, the background softens into a blur of forest tones—mossy greens, muted browns, and the cool haze of distant shade. The softness of the backdrop makes the bird’s colors feel even more intense, like a jewel set against weathered wood.

I created this mandala from my photograph of the Sydney Harbour Bridge I captured and created the mandala / kaleidoscope with special software from my image. I was amazed to see how the Harbour Bridge looked so different in the mandala with magnificent detail.

<p>Petaluma River II</p><p>The Petaluma River is typically a very lazy river with a nice calming affect for those that can find the time to sit and enjoy its presence.<br>There are only a handful of access points to the river, most of them in and around the town of Petaluma itself. Petaluma River II

The scene opens on a quiet stretch of the Petaluma River at what feels like the first warm breath of the morning. The light is soft and honey‑gold, the kind that settles gently over everything it touches. It glows across the water’s surface, turning the river into a smooth sheet of warm color—amber near the horizon, shifting into cooler silvery blues as it approaches the foreground.

A yellow sailboat sits anchored near the center of the frame, its hull catching the sunlight so vividly that it seems to radiate its own warmth. The boat’s reflection stretches downward in the water, slightly blurred and trembling with the river’s movement. A faint wake trails from its bow—just enough to show that the current is stronger than it looks, tugging steadily downstream.

On either side of the river, the banks are lined with tall reeds and muted winter grasses, their textures soft and feathery in the coming light. They lean slightly, shaped by the breeze and the season. Behind them, the land rises gently into low, rolling hills, their silhouettes softened by distance and the warm haze of the setting sun.

The watercolor painting is built up of many layers of different bright fresh green tones and shows the abstracted detail of a wildflower meadow with many four-leaf clovers. On one of the clovers sits a red ladybird with black dots. Due to the strong complementary contrast between red and green, this little lucky ladybird is the focus of the picture and attracts attention. The four-leaf clovers and the ladybird are symbols of luck. I wish you that this picture brings a lot of luck and joy into your home.

The water off the coast is cold and many of the days are cold also.<br>On a good day the fog burns off around noon and stays out to sea for 4 to 5 hours. <p>The Emerald Forest</p><p>The Emerald Forest. This image is mostly straight out of the camera and it's an image I'm very proud of. The only adjust made was to brighten it up a bit as the exposure was originally darker due to the low light that this was captured under.<br>One of the reasons I like this is that it shows that clearly this is a forest but the blurred effects give the image a mysterious feel. I captured this image of these Mountain Bongos at the Dubbo Western Plains Zoo in the mid west of NSW, Australia. An amazing zoo to visit if you are in NSW, Australia. I chose to post this image due to its endangered species.

The Mountain Bongo (Tragelaphus eurycerus isaaci) is a critically endangered, large forest antelope native only to Kenya's highland forests. With fewer than 100 individuals estimated in the wild, they are among Africa's rarest mammals, characterized by a vibrant reddish-brown coat with white stripes, large ears, and spiral horns.

<p>Petaluma Morning</p><p>The town of Petaluma in Southern Sonoma County in Northern California has a pretty active nightlife for such a small town. <p>Racing Balloons</p><p>I'm not exactly sure why they call the Reno Balloon Race a race at all. It seemed that nobody was in a real hurry to get off the ground. Once off the ground I didn't see anyway to race these things or a course to race on. It seemed as if they were just floating up and down and around, looking for different currents to float on.<br>I'm not criticizing this. <p>Morning at the Vineyard</p><p>Just outside my door I can drive 15 minutes and be in the heart of wine country. I do visit the wineries on a fairly regular basis and I try to get to know the owners and employees so I can walk their fields and shoot the vineyards.
