<p>This platform has proved to be pretty quite for me outside of one math meme re-share that went a little viral :). </p><p>I'm still checking in now and then but I've set up shop pretty much on Bsky, Cara, and still have active Meta accounts but, that's up for review for sure now.</p><p>Links to follow if you find this and are over there.</p><p><a href="https://bsky.app/profile/salgoodsam.bsky.social/" rel="nofollow" class="ellipsis" title="bsky.app/profile/salgoodsam.bsky.social/"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">bsky.app/profile/salgoodsam.bs</span><span class="invisible">ky.social/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://cara.app/salgood" rel="nofollow"><span class="invisible">https://</span>cara.app/salgood</a></p><p><a href="/tags/art/" rel="tag">#art</a> <a href="/tags/comics/" rel="tag">#comics</a> <a href="/tags/canpoli/" rel="tag">#canpoli</a> <a href="/tags/rants/" rel="tag">#rants</a> <a href="/tags/noai/" rel="tag">#noai</a></p>

<p>🤔 🇨🇦 Over the past 4 or 5 decades I've noticed across this country there has been a drop in Canadians voting for governments who support the most vulnerable; subsidized housing, financial support, etc...we are abandoning our sense of community spirit, our social democracy. </p><p> Truly discouraging and disappointing. <br> <br>Millions, yes that many, are barely surviving, living in squalor; crammed together in basements, or aging and crumbling social housing. in unsafe unsanitary conditions. or are on the streets. <br>The shortage of old subsidized housing units has increased wait lists up to 12 years in some areas.</p><p>Meanwhile Canadians are falling for political rhetoric of trickle down economics that is really, trickle down selfishness, or , the Americanization of Canada .</p><p>A country is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable, we are failing--and polls say we are one of the best, the most free but are we when we leave people trapped in despair due to extreme poverty?</p><p><a href="/tags/canada/" rel="tag">#Canada</a> <a href="/tags/canpoli/" rel="tag">#Canpoli</a></p><p><a href="https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/article/98-of-canadian-households-tracked-receiving-social-assistance-live-below-poverty-line-report/" rel="nofollow" class="ellipsis" title="www.ctvnews.ca/canada/article/98-of-canadian-households-tracked-receiving-social-assistance-live-below-poverty-line-report/"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">www.ctvnews.ca/canada/article/</span><span class="invisible">98-of-canadian-households-tracked-receiving-social-assistance-live-below-poverty-line-report/</span></a></p>

<p>🌱 Congratulations to Emily Lowan, newly elected leader of the BC Green Party!</p><p>She is now the first political party leader in Canada on Mastodon — a milestone for healthier, community-driven digital spaces.</p><p>I look forward to seeing Emily share more here about expanding Mastodon adoption and supporting her MLAs as they join the Fediverse. Perhaps also a friendly challenge to other party leaders.</p><p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@emilylowan" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>emilylowan</span></a></span> <span class="h-card"><a href="https://socialbc.ca/@mlabotterell" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>mlabotterell</span></a></span> <a href="/tags/yyj/" rel="tag">#yyj</a> <a href="/tags/cdnpoli/" rel="tag">#Cdnpoli</a> <a href="/tags/canpoli/" rel="tag">#Canpoli</a> <a href="/tags/greenparty/" rel="tag">#GreenParty</a> <a href="/tags/bcpoli/" rel="tag">#BCPoli</a> <span class="h-card"><a href="https://mstdn.ca/@Paulatics" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>Paulatics</span></a></span></p>

<p>I highly recommend this article about the massive U-turn that Canadian immigration policy has taken over the past few years. I've always taken Canada's self-mythologizing about how welcoming the country is towards newcomers with a HUGE grain of salt, but this essay encapsulates just how heartless our immigration system currently is. </p><p>"Welcome to Canada! Please help prop up our massively underfunded post-secondary education system and then get blamed for how similarly underfunded healthcare and infrastructure is. Oh, those pathways to permanent resident status? We changed our minds! Sorry, eh!" </p><p>It's not mentioned in this article, but isn't it beyond time that we revisit our "safe" third country agreement with the U.S.?</p><p><a href="/tags/canpoli/" rel="tag">#Canpoli</a> <a href="/tags/immigration/" rel="tag">#immigration</a> <a href="/tags/racism/" rel="tag">#racism</a> </p><p><a href="https://shado-mag.com/articles/opinion/bye-canada-im-going-back-to-where-i-came-from/" rel="nofollow" class="ellipsis" title="shado-mag.com/articles/opinion/bye-canada-im-going-back-to-where-i-came-from/"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">shado-mag.com/articles/opinion</span><span class="invisible">/bye-canada-im-going-back-to-where-i-came-from/</span></a></p>
