I have to admit I feel a bit of an idiot now for defending Creative Commons for nearly 20 years — arguing with people who never believed anything meaningful would come of it, even turning down a label deal at one point, always waving the flag.

But I guess that's how being human works. You believe in something and then sad things happen.

(sometimes also good things, but that's much rarer)

😞

#ccmusic #creativecommons

I just noticed that the new @creativecommons @creativecommons.org License chooser is producing a very plain HTML code. No extra attributes, not even `rel=cc:`. Are all no longer needed?

Where those not used by machines to discover CC Licensed works? Are there new ways we are not aware about? I can't find any information or discussion as to why those were dropped.

Tags: #CreativeCommons #CC #CCL

Here is a preview design for a (business) card promoting the Fediverse (made in Inkscape).
I plagiarized the idea from @juergen_hubert who has created card templates people can print and give out at protests.
Instead, i'm doing fully designed cards for more generic use. Lending my graphic design skills to the community. I will put these out as print ready files under a (non-commercial) Creative Commons license - so anyone can get a stack cheaply printed themselves to give out places or leave in coffee shops etc.
If there is interest, I will do a bunch of different designs, different languages, and a US size (I'm designing to EU standards). Plus maybe some stickers and posters too?
This particular design is my trademark 'busy with movement' style. I've based the design on the colours and shapes from the official Fediverse logo.

#fediverse #fedi #fedicard #fedihelp #graphicdesign #graphics #inkscape #fedipromo #creativecommons

I did it! Then a bunch of classic M1 Piano samples (not that they can be recognized as such after my heavy FX treatment), unconventional sliced and filtered drum loops from random "first to pop up in my SE" Internet sources, the iconic Atari ST speech synth, the Google Translate voice, own field recordings and lots of filtered feedback delay chains. Almost no reverb btw (only for rhythmic accents and in the beginning).

Here it is, right on the official Acid December web site (much thanks to the beings behind datapop.se, especially Martin and also Setto from #Basspistol and all the others behind it, for keeping dat 1989 club underground spirit alive!)

https://acid.datapop.se/2025/30

#acidDecember #aciddecember2025 #club #fediMusic #creativeCommons

I've overhauled my Patreon! I'm now focused on making CC0 software for Linux and Windows - free, open source, no strings attached. If you want to support the work, vote on what gets built next, or just follow along, the new tiers are live now. Everything I make will always be free for everyone, but if you believe in what I'm doing, this is the best way to help 🙂

https://www.patreon.com/lashman

#CC0 #OpenSource #FOSS #Linux #Windows #FreeSoftware #CreativeCommons #Patreon
