This pair of jays had chosen an interesting nesting spot: a broken streetlight. They were therefore used to people passing by and were not bothered by me. You can see them in the first photo trying to get their parents attention. A pair of jays nesting in a broken streetlight. The streetlight is an older one, with large round glasses inside of a metal frame. One glass is broken and is now the entrance to the birds nest.
Two chicks are raising their heads from the bottom of the nest trying to get food from the parent birds.

From the backlog from last October: I did the Old City Hall station tour. The tour is only open to members of the NY Transit Museum. But the free way to see it is to take the 6 train and stay on the train past Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station; there the train will go through the Old City Hall station in a loop to turn around. <a href="/tags/nyc/" rel="tag">#nyc</a> <a href="/tags/subway/" rel="tag">#subway</a> <a href="/tags/trains/" rel="tag">#trains</a> <a href="/tags/trainstation/" rel="tag">#trainstation</a> <a href="/tags/architecture/" rel="tag">#architecture</a> <a href="/tags/photography/" rel="tag">#photography</a> <a href="/tags/darktable/" rel="tag">#darktable</a> <a href="/tags/railfan/" rel="tag">#railfan</a>

Under the dark tiled arches, on a curved platform of an abandoned subway station. The station is lit by dim tunsten-colored lights. A train entered the station, and its bright headlights illuminated the tour guide on the platform.
