FEMA has not been on the ground. They do not have confirmed assistance from FEMA at this point.” <br><a href="/tags/greed/" rel="tag">#greed</a> <a href="/tags/doge/" rel="tag">#DOGE</a> <a href="/tags/disasters/" rel="tag">#disasters</a> <a href="/tags/politics/" rel="tag">#politics</a></p>

<p>One of the things I really missed about Twitter after leaving there a few years ago were the independent, on-the-ground, local <a href="/tags/journalists/" rel="tag">#journalists</a> covering <a href="/tags/protests/" rel="tag">#protests</a>, local weather <a href="/tags/disasters/" rel="tag">#disasters</a>, etc. It was a *great* way to get accurate, timely info. </p><p>>>> I'd love to be able to get a list of local people doing this kind of work if you know of anyone on Mastodon. For now, I've come across this guy on bluesky who's got good coverage of <a href="/tags/la/" rel="tag">#LA</a> <a href="/tags/ice/" rel="tag">#ICE</a> action: @ acatwithnews.bsky.social </p><p>Build <a href="/tags/community/" rel="tag">#community</a> ✌️</p>
