I think it's time for a re-introduction!

Hello fediverse! I am an admin for Veganism.Social, VoIP engineer, sim-racer with @ethixracing, gamer, foodie, and long-time ethical vegan. I'm originally from South Florida, but now living in the Orlando area as of 2020. I'm usually not a very social person, but I'm trying to change that! I want to make a difference in the world, and one person cannot do that alone, so connecting with others is essential.

My political and ethical views are all centered around equality, compassion, and environmental protection. I am anti-capitalist, but I also understand that it's impossible in the current state of society to avoid participating in it. So I try to make the best decisions I can with the options given to me in order to minimize the harm it causes.

Humans and animals all over the world are facing troubling times, and thinking about it has taken a massive toll on my mental health. Now, I am trying to focus my efforts on things that I can change, rather than spreading myself too thin and not helping at all. This doesn't mean I'm ignoring all of the other suffering, but simply trying to prioritize based on what is within my reach.

Thank you for taking the time to read, and if you feel like we have something in common, give a follow! I look forward to meeting like-minded individuals and organizations that seek to make the world a better place!

For a bit more info about myself and my sim-racing efforts, check out this interview I did with @veganeasy last year.
https://www.veganeasy.org/discover/news/interview-eracing-driven-by-compassion/

#introduction #vegan #veganism #equality #compassion #SimRacing #eSports #gaming #VoIP #hospitality #ethics #connect #Florida

Last night I interviewed Dan Destructo, the singer and last remaining original member of the 80s #hardcore band No Fraud, a band from Venice, #Florida. Talk about charisma. Some people just have that je ne sais quoi.

The reason I’m still excited about #punk is because of stories like Dan’s. Imagine being a teenager in a small town in the 80s and transforming your entire reality just by making music and sharing it with others. You go from getting beat up for being different to being connected to an international network of supporters just by virtue of making a tape of mediocre quality and sending it off to MRR. Suddenly, you’re touring Canada, getting fan mail from Japan… Just wow. And this is before “Book Your Own Fucking Life,” you know?

Was invited to join a group of women & nb folks to create an eco zine about #Florida. It was very lovely on one level and very shocking on another. Two ppl present worked at commercial magazines. Adding graphic designers and artistic directors to the zine project were discussed. Silly me thought we would be putting the whole thing together ourselves. I don’t think most were even familiar with #zines as related to subculture. It feels like concept has been gutted and sterilized over time.
