The #Forkiverse as a model: ie converting podcast audiences to an instance makes a lot of sense.
It helps people pick a smaller instance (which still stops people joining the #fediverse) and it immediately has reach beyond the community (unlike say a discord server)
If this was to become the norm though it would need to be very very easy to do and I imagine the cost of this will rack up pretty quickly.

Polite request for folks to say in their introduction or bio where they live (unless there's a personal safety reason why you can't, of course).
Be as specific or as general as you like, but it's nice to know at minimum what country people hail from.

Welcome, everyone joining the #forkiverse!
The #fediverse is like any social media in that the "algorithm" gets better the more you "train" it. And by "algorithm" I mean cool people & hashtags you can follow (yes, you can follow hashtags, it's awesome!), and by "train" it I mean boost any post you enjoy.
The more you boost and others boost, the more good stuff bubbles to the top and even goes viral. (Yes, stuff on Mastodon etc. can go viral! It's possible!)
Most importantly: HAVE FUN!! 😊🎉
I'd like to extend my welcome to the #forkiverse folks, hoping to see them bring more diversity into our corner of the internet.

- fill in your profiles with at least *some*content (doesn't have to be complex or a lot!) That tells other users you're not a bot.
- post an #introduction, as many of you have been doing 🤘
- follow hashtags and users that look interesting to you! There is no algorithm. The algorithm is you - and boosting!

First #protip for the #forkiverse & #fediverse. Go to url <instancename.url>/deck (you might need to go into your Settings > Appearance > Enable Advanced UI, near the bottom, to enable this), and you'll get a multi-column view of your feeds where you can pin what you want to see. For example, theforkiverse.com/deck gets you what you see attached in the image. Enjoy!

Shot in the dark but is anyone else here a teacher? I am working on revising the literacy curriculum at my school and feel as though I’m doing it in complete isolation. While I think it's good that more mainstream publications do more on the #fediverse the Search Engine/Hard Fork episode on the #forkiverse is a bit ... well it could have done with a bit more research. And "oh look how yanky it all is but we didn't read the manual to run this service but has an LLM Agent just do something" is cringe at best: You're not reading the manual but you want to run a platform for a few thousand people? That's not cute but shows a lack of care and willingness to take responsibility.
Interesting to see so many new followers lately, I would have guessed it had something to do with the #forkiverse but almost none of them are from there. Hello new wave! Where are you finding me?
