I learned today that because of the strong Moral Rights protection in the <a href="/tags/philippines/" rel="tag">#Philippines</a> , it is not possible for Authors/Creators (defined as "natural persons" by law) to dedicate/release their work to the <a href="/tags/publicdomain/" rel="tag">#PublicDomain</a> .And even if we use 0BSD, MIT-0, CC0, and other similar public-domain-equivalent licenses, we can still sue anyone who:1. Misused our name 2. Misrepresented us 3. Misused our work (downstream)All under Moral Rights because we can never waived it under Philippine law. Even with a promise not to sue anyone is not a guarantee.So, saying, "This work is under 0BSD/MIT-0/CC0 and I will never sue anyone for whatever reason", won't work under Philippine law. The Creator/Author will always have their Moral Rights as the creator/author of the work. First page of Jam's 'How to be a Solarpunk'. A farmer cat holding a plant talks to the reader: ''SolarPunks' believe that we can create a better future together. One where we all thrive without damaging the planet or its people. Maybe you've wanted to join in on the fun!'. A confused cat is confused and narration above it reads: 'But what if you don't know where to start?'. Then a happy title reads: 'JUST DECIDE!', and the cat says 'I want to be a SolarPunk!'. Narration reads: 'You can start today, wherever you are! 'Being a SolarPunk' is all about making DECISIONS. In our lives, there are some options that are 'more' or 'less' aligned with the SolarPunk ethos. To be a SolarPunk, choose the best aligned option as often as possible.' The confused cat is walking towards a sign that says 'MORE SOLARPUNK', which points to wind turbines, eco villages, bikes, gardens etc, walking away from a sign that says 'LESS SOLARPUNK', and to a factory spewing smoke with a sign that reads 'BUY BUY BUY'. There's also a cybertruck and other cars, a sign that says '24/7 grindset' and pollution.

Narration reads 'Not everyone will agree on what 'the most SolarPunk' option is in a situation. But learning to disagree and compromise for the greater good of all is PART of being a SolarPunk. You don't need to dress, work or, eat a certain way, or live in a certain place. SolarPunks can be ANYONE and can start their practice from ANYWHERE!. First we see a younger cat arguing with an older farmer cat. The older farmer cat is saying that money and fuel cars are bad, but battery cars and bikes are good. The younger cat is thinking that he has kids. So they agree that the bus is the best option. Then we see a wide variety of cat people: some punks, a parent and child, an older person with a cane, a businesswoman, a cat on a wheelchair. They are all over an assortment of settings, a suburb, a farm, a city.

Narration reads: ' There are lots of ways to start your journey to being more SolarPunk. Try them out bit by bit, and don't worry about doing them all at once. Before you know it, your whole life will start transforming into something completely new!'. We see an assortment of options. A cat buying local, a cat going to a Repair Cafe, a little Free Library, using zero waste products, a cat biking to work, a garden planted with native plants, and a vegan dish. The cat from the beginning says 'Wow! So many options!'. Then we see a thriving community with a library that uses solar panels, a bunch of wind turbines, little cafeterias, produce markets, bikers, small rise buildings, etc. Narration says: 'When millions of SolarPunks are all working together, we can be sure we'll create a world where both the people and our planeet will be able to heal and flourish.'
