Here is a performance I'm participating in next Wednesday, 8/19, at Human Resources in Chinatown, Los Angeles. I'm excited to have all these inspiring friends in the same room for the first time.
My set will be a sort of collision between some of my deepest collaborators from LA and the Bay Area. Aine Nakamura and I have collaborated since 2023 in a number of settings. Georgia Bell and I have played regularly since last year in a trio with Sam Rowell. Both are some of my favorite people to play with, and tonight will be their first meeting. Aine is in town from Berkeley for another performance next Friday in Venice, which you should also check out if you can.
Jacob Wick is an old friend whom I've known since grade school, who happens to be an incredible trumpeter. He is visiting from Mexico City. I get to hear him about once or twice a decade. It's always a revelation.
Everyone else on the bill is fantastic, too, but I'm trying to keep this brief.
