<p>I'm thinking of excluding AI generated content explicitly in the terms of MakerTube. Background is that more and more generated content is uploaded and frankly resources are to sparse and costly to host this crap. <p>Some technical updates regarding <a href="/tags/makertube/" rel="tag">#MakerTube</a>. I started building up a storage cluster to gain some operational experience with it. We will soon hit some plan limit on Hetzner for the backup (20TB) and the decision was either to use the managed object store (expensive) or do it on my own (more work). I will only use it for backups and block storage for now and see how it turns out. But in the long run I guess there is no way around it to keep costs in check. <p>Looks like youtube import is broken again. Yt is blocking all proxy IPs and I don't have a work around. <p>There is a big inrush of people and registrations on <a href="/tags/makertube/" rel="tag">#MakerTube</a> after c't <a href="/tags/heise/" rel="tag">#heise</a> (a big German publisher in IT) uploaded a video about alternative platforms to the big US owned ones. I'm going through the registrations and letting people in, but I can't accommodate everyone. <p>Good morning Fedi friends!<br><br>It's been 99 days since I started self-hosting my own Fediverse instances. Crazy how time flies!<br><br>I've been a bit absent from here this week because I started exploring the world of <a href="/tags/peertube/" rel="tag">#PeerTube</a> from the POV of a creator.<br><br>I just set up my own account on <a href="/tags/makertube/" rel="tag">#MakerTube</a> - so that I can write a guide that is accessible to many (as opposed to skipping this step and going straight to self-hosting).<br><br>Anyway, here is my PeerTube account: <a href="https://makertube.net/a/elena/video-channels" rel="nofollow" class="ellipsis" title="makertube.net/a/elena/video-channels"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">makertube.net/a/elena/video-ch</span><span class="invisible">annels</span></a><br><br>I have been able to follow it from <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a> and <a href="/tags/friendica/" rel="tag">#Friendica</a> without a problem, but I keep getting an error message when I try to subscribe with my <a href="/tags/gotosocial/" rel="tag">#GoToSocial</a> username. The exact message: "Cannot fetch information from this remote account." Does anybody have the same issue? <p>This is a bit of a review of 2025 and an outlook to 2026 regarding <a href="/tags/makertube/" rel="tag">#MakerTube</a>. The platform matured a lot in the last year. We had a lot of growth, but also technical stability improved a lot. This is primarily thanks to the moderators while I could focus on operations. Thanks a lot for your work and support! Also, Framasoft is doing a great job to improve <a href="/tags/peertube/" rel="tag">#PeerTube</a> and incorporates our feedback. 1/4</p>
