<p>I love how favoriting on <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a> has so little effect on post "reach".</p><p>Your post got favorited? Congratulations, you reached someone. <p>Spent some time this morning getting a cursory understanding of <a href="/tags/atprotocol/" rel="tag">#ATProtocol</a> (the open protocol behind <a href="/tags/bluesky/" rel="tag">#BlueSky</a>). I have a decent understanding of <a href="/tags/activitypub/" rel="tag">#ActivityPub</a> and I expected AT to have a lot of similarities.</p><p>It’s quite different, and this diagram surprised me.</p><p>PDS here is “Personal Data Server”. You might think of it as something like a <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a> instance where all your data is stored and posts by those you follow are cached. </p><p>Except notice that there’s no arrows between PDSes.</p><p>1/5</p>

That page updates automatically as new photos are posted.</p><p>How did they get there? In PieFed a Feed is a bundle of communities with all their content shown together in a list. Those communities can be on any Lemmy, PieFed or Mbin instance. In the sidebar you can see all the communities in the Feed. That feed can be Followed, just like an account on Mastodon can be. </p><p>Someone on <a href="https://piefed.social" rel="nofollow"><span class="invisible">https://</span>piefed.social</a> followed <a href="https://feddit.online/f/photos" rel="nofollow">

<p>Today I am stepping down from my role as the CEO of <a href="/tags/mastodon/" rel="tag">#Mastodon</a>. Though this has been in the works for a while, I can't say I've fully processed how I feel about it. There is a bittersweet part to it, and I think I will miss it, but it also felt necessary. <p>Are you getting notifications from a thread that you don't care about? Do you want to stop those notifications?</p><p>You can do this by using Mastodon's "Mute conversation" feature:</p><p>1. Log in through your server’s website or web app<br>2. Go to a notification you’ve received from the thread you want to mute<br>3.
