Tear gas — currently being deployed in Minneapolis — can cause long-term health consequences by making people more susceptible to contracting respiratory illnesses.
The chemical agent can also hurt people inside their homes if it seeps into residential neighborhoods.

Right now, there's not a lot I can do about the horrors happening in Minnesota, but I can donate to help people there survive financially. I added another $50 to this fund organized and vetted by Heidi Li Feldman.

Due to the nature of my work, whether I show up for work today or not in solidarity with Minnesota changes almost nothing, but it does give me an avenue to say something so here's my email auto-reply.
"Organizations in Minnesota have called for a day of solidarity on January 30th to highlight what's happening there. As a show of support for the people of Minnesota and people everywhere risking their lives and livelihoods to defend my rights as an American, I'm offline today.

@fkamiah17 Accurate : My "insider" is my brother who lives in MSP. He is calling it "Eternal January". They are not stopping what they are doing, just changing tactics.
Meanwhile, in Colorado, we are trying to learn from MSP resident actions.
We keep us safe - Colorado is standing up resistance channels in preparation of similar scale operations.

"The journalists who flocked here over the past few weeks are people I have run into while on assignment in hot spots all over the world. Now they were in my home city."
