Morning in the city

Apart from some little cropping, I didn't do anything to this photo. It doesn't look quite real, like a city from a comic book. That's how I feel when I go into a big city. I'm always looking for the organic, the living, the sun and the shadows, but the superposition of lines, the rectangles and the brightness of all the glass behind this old building is what I like here.

Des breuvages seront en vente sur place, nous vous encourageons donc à vider les poches de vos manteaux d'automne (on s'en ennuie dont!) et trouver quelques bidous à dépenser chez nous.

En effet, comme vous le saviez probablement si vous suivez ce qui se passe ici, des travaux majeurs de réfection du bâtiment nous demandent, dès 2026, de fournir une plus grande contribution mensuelle auprès de l'AEELI afin de garder le local vivant et surtout, sécuritaire. Les temps sont durs et nous grattons les fonds de tirroir pour boucler le budget, mais nous savons que derrière nous, une communauté florissante et solidaire est là pour traverser les rivières et montagnes de la vie.

En bref, on veut pas faire pitié, mais SVP venez dont faire le party pis contribuer à la cagnotte! Si vous ne pouvez (ou voulez) pas vous joindre à la partie cette soirée là, nous apprécions tous les dons, petits et grands, si vous êtes en mesure d'en faire.

New book on the history of McGill University - written and edited by historians, not the university's comms department. I wrote a chapter on how Indigenous dispossession and colonial politicians saved McGill when it was in danger of going broke. Others cover McGill's ties to chattel slavery, Japanese exclusion, research of various sorts, student lives, queer experiences, and more.
