<p>Tomorrow, October 1st, 2025 I&#x27;m starting the first edition of <a href="/tags/kaijuktober/" rel="tag">#Kaijuktober</a> <a href="/tags/film/" rel="tag">#Film</a> Festival (<a href="/tags/kff/" rel="tag">#KFF</a>)! During October, I&#x27;ll be watching one <a href="/tags/kaiju/" rel="tag">#kaiju</a> <a href="/tags/movie/" rel="tag">#movie</a> every day. My plan for this year is to watch every movie from the <a href="/tags/toho/" rel="tag">#Toho</a> <a href="/tags/showa/" rel="tag">#Showa</a> era — around 25 movies. <p>finished watching <a href="https://neodb.social/search?r=1&q=https://neodb.social/movie/0WJz7lqsPvENYuuvPDGK4l" rel="nofollow">Ash</a> <br>Stylish and/but derivative, I still haven&#x27;t decided if that&#x27;s a bad thing here: the movie is proud of all the elements it rips from other sci-fi-horrors, as it rips them from the best, and it knows to coat them with cool electric lights and production design too good for its budget. Look, the director is called Flying Lotus, this isn&#x27;t going to be subtle nor high-brow.</p><p>I can&#x27;t say the movie&#x27;s great, I was bored at times due to uneven pacing and the constant feeling that cheap twists are coming, but I can appreciate an exercise in style.
