After two and a half years, it's time for an #IntroductoryPost

Hi Everyone!

I've been meaning to do this since I migrated from the bad site in November 2022. I may be guilty of procrastination from time to time. Anyway.. I started on mastodon.social, migrated to mastodon.lol (RIP), briefly ran my own mastodon instance and then migrated to the mighty beige.

I'm a middle-aged, white, #bisexual, #polyamorous, cisgender male and deal with #BPD, #anxiety, and #depression. I live on the outskirts of what I lovingly call the "Mormon Vatican". I self-medicate with #cannabis to maintain emotional regulation. I live with my partner who struggles with #CPTSD, crippling anxiety, depression and BPD tendencies; and also with our obese, codependent #BorderCollie. I almost compulsively use profanity. My content is probably not suited for younger viewers.

My partner is currently unable to work due to the aforementioned conditions. We're currently between residences and have been staying in an extended-stay style hotel while my partner recovers from a recent toxic living situation.

Meanwhile, I put every ounce of my #spoons into poverty-wage #retail. I simply don't have the stamina to work a second job.

Our goal is to be moved into permanent housing in the next 60 days, in large part because this motel costs more than my entire monthly wage income (including a recent rate hike of over $350/mo), and any expenses beyond that have unfortunately been the burden of the #MutualAid community.

Essentially, we've been "making a living from panhandling" because written content and curation by amateurs like myself generally isn't a lucrative endeavor, and I'm always too damned tired to pursue podcasting or vlogging.

If you're someone morally opposed to seeing a #MutualAidRequest in your timeline (or wax pedantic about the etymology and perversion of the term being used in this manner instead of "begging"), you'll probably want to disengage at least for the immediate future. On the other hand, you've likely already muted the terms and therefore won't even be able to see this post, so..

Somehow there are still people who have put up with our begging and "grifting". I would guess their motivation is sort of like a Simpsons quote that seemed particularly appropriate for our situation:

If you couldn't already gather, I'm a hardcore, bleeding-heart #progressive. I'm also a deeply-flawed, hypocritical poser about all those things a la Brian Griffin on "Family Guy". I try to divert my views and rants about this to my secondary account @LibertyForward1.

I boost *a lot*. That post average on my profile? It's not an exaggeration; it's updated automatically at midnight local time. Expect an avalanche of #cat pics, #dog pics, other interesting animal pics, and metric (not imperial) shittons of #shitposts. I love weird, vulgar, and silly. I'll almost always boost a #DadJoke if it's sufficiently cringe.

Also.. Brevity isn't my strongest suite.

#MutualAid Update & Status Report

Once again, thank you all for your continued support through boosting and donations.

As of right now, I am covered, but there are ongoing bills and expenses that will continue, and my disability/SSDI appeal is still trapped in the queue with no resolution in the near term. The next rent will come due on July 22, and the main utility bills and expenses will be rolling in right around that time as well.

New #MutualAid Update:

So far so good: everything up to date, but some minor but critical bills coming due this and next week; and next rent coming due on Friday 2/27.

Next month, I will begin the process of applying for Social Security Retirement benefits; if successful, my first monthly payment will be in June, since I will turn 62, the minimum age to qualify for early benefits, in May. It won't be much, but at least I won't have to beg every two weeks for the basics.

Y'all deserve a new thread:

Latest social worker response to my psychologist was is "we have units available in catchment, but your client is stubborn and picky." In typical neurotypical sarcasm.

Roommate is 99% not coming back. I might have a loss on keyboards and RAM I bought them.

False promises were made for food security when the reality is my landlords having a baby WILL mean they forget. (Noise is also unavoidable)

Topping it all off, peer support is still depending on a reliable vehicle and that still hasn't had any solid promises.

Buffer money (for food and supplies) is desperately needed to maintain my "model tenant" status (by allowing 1000% me time) which was recently confirmed by my social worker.

Hello everyone, an update as my family is struggling I can barely help Sabi. The numbers she gave me yesterday were incorrect.

Weekly Hotel $650
Due Tuesdays 11 AM ET

It's getting very incredibly difficult for Sabi to even keep track of everything while severely dissociating. The hotel just tells her the total due and while she's paying a bit at a time it's keeping eviction at bay but who knows for how long.

Zay has been trying to reach a week or two goal since their hospital discharge to stay sheltered and to cover copay for med refills and food. They are unhauzed and have been in and out of the hospital and urgent care with long cov¡d complications.

Hello 🌞 A couple months ago I asked for #donations to help buying an ebike. I live rurally and on disability, at the moment I can't afford to move back into the city and can't get a drivers license for another year. An ebike would help me travel to doctors, physical therapy + massage etc, get my own groceries and visit friends.

At the time I got ~$250 and I decided to wait a couple months to save up more for a model that fits my needs better, and get a better credit card for emergencies. I now should be able to put ~$1500 towards the bike and can put some on credit.

The bike is $2833 with tax. I'm hoping to get some more to prevent having to pay too much credit (am already paying 175 a month from my top surgery). If you give or boost, thank you very much!
