I’m curious to know how often the distinctions between the various types of algorithms has been made? There has been a lot of discussion about #ai. Yet this is often used as a very generic term to describe everything from ChatGPT to AlphaFold without much distinction that the underlying algorithms are often very different. This difference seems like something that should be obvious and yet is not a common distinction in articles. Is this well known or distinction worth exploring? #philosophy

Religion, explained:
(evolution as religion)
.
It’s not the afterlife, it’s the next life, the next generation
.
it’s not your soul, it’s your genes you need to be protecting, and not the way the warriors think, the way you would protect your soul is the way you protect your genes, by getting right with the world.
.
This is what the prophets have been trying to tell you, when you abuse, you harm your GENES and so we are punished in the next life, meaning the next generation.
.
“Soul,” in this sense, is a better definition for genes than the popular version.

Who are these eminent philosophers?

Anthropic describes this constitution as being written for Claude. Described as being "optimized for precision over accessibility." However, on a major philosophical claim it is clear that there is a great deal of ambiguity on how to even evaluate this. Eminent philosophers is an appeal to authority. If they are named, then it is possible to evaluate their claims in context. This is neither precise nor accessible.

#AI #LLM #Claude #philosophy #anthropic

No. She argues that rational self‑interest forbids coercion, exploitation, and parasitism. Predators aren’t “selfish”—they’re short‑range, self‑destructive, and irrational.

❌ “It’s just an excuse to do whatever you want.”

She draws a hard boundary between whim and #reason. Her ethics demands long‑range thinking, integrity, and principled action — the opposite of impulse.

❌ “#Objectivism celebrates cruelty.”

The introduction explicitly rejects cruelty as irrational. Benevolence is not only compatible with #egoism—it’s a natural expression of a rational, confident person.

❌ “Rand denies moral principles.”

She denies sacrifice as a moral ideal. She does not deny #morality. She argues for a code rooted in reality, reason, and the requirements of human life.

If you want to understand the argument instead of the mythology, read the primary source--it’s short, sharp, and surprisingly accessible.

Read more for context on the full book, editions, and themes.

#philosophy #individualism #reading #nonfiction #ideas #bookstodon
