plan9

So are hipsters using Plan 9 or derivatives? Can someone please explain the use case beyond this? This is a real question, not being facetious. #plan9 #9front #plan9front

I made a wallpaper version. 2k resolution. Art by @prahou

#unix_surrealism #9front #plan9 #glenda

Does anyone in the #9front #plan9 community know what I could access the art that appears to be from this email program? It's pretty neat and I want to see If I can get a copy without the username in front. I tried to bring it into Gimp, but sadly my editing skills suck.

So, #9front / #plan9 peeps:

What exactly happened with sigrid? I've been absent from the grid for a few months and am missing context.

#plan9 people, are you aware of any #Lisp implementation for Plan9/9front? Simple search didn't turn up anything for me. But there must be Lisp for 9, because... there's always some Lisp for any system! Anything I'm missing?

Actually, there's aa (https://git.sr.ht/~ft/aa), but it seems wildly incomplete. So any pointers on more complete systems is appreciated!

My local pub has a food printer that can print on a pint of Guinness

#plan9

As an excercice on #plan9 I am trying to write a basic text editor in C. Sofar I can open a file and read it into a biobuffer, then print it to the console by writing to /dev/cons file. That works fine. Now I am struggling to clear the console before writing, so that I have only the intended text, which I can edit and then save by reading /dev/cons and saving it to the original text file. Not sure if this makes send nor if this is the #plan9 way of coding. Any suggestions?

Question for #9front users. Can you print to a networked printer ? I suspect not as I'm struggling to find any references to it.
#plan9

#Plan9 feels a litt bit like an alternate take on Unix from a parallel world, a better world in many ways. However, somewhat impractical in this reality.
