#art #history: if most of the people born into privilege were like nancy cunard (born #otd in 1896), maybe we wouldn't have such an itchy collective guillotine finger. this fashionable fash-basher & anti-racism campaigner (& heir to the cunard shipping line) was a writer who became a muse to man ray, james joyce & langston hughes.
when she wasn't busy being effortlessly avant-garde, nancy worked as a translator for the french resistance.

and yawns in deep content,
accepting all the comforts
that Providence has sent…

Found an amazing web site with impressive catalog of poetry and literature in Farsi.
I used to have a very large library when I was in Sweden, and took them with me to US when my company moved me there, but I had to gave them away when I went back to take care of my parents, I only kept a few books of Khayyam and Hafez with me.
Finding this site is like a dream come true. It has search function too and sorting the poets based on the timeline, from 11th century to 21st.
compartir espacios, tareas y comida
anteponiendo a nuestra seguridad nuestros ideales,
urdiendo un plan, consensuando nuevas estratagemas,
partiendo de estructuras sin poder, siendo horizontales,
sin querer obtener beneficio, rompiéndoles sus esquemas

'What I Mean When I Say I'm Tired'

"I want quiet.
I want the mercy of being unseen
without being unloved."

The poetry of Palestine isn’t about politics - it’s about children, loss, memory, and genocide written in the shadow of war.

i met you in the wind
i knew you by the leaves you left
on the doorstep of the workshop
infrequent, scrawled
with the hopes you had for spring
i saw quiet and felt sound
caught glimpses of you
enraptured in your making
and the weaving of your branches
you took pride in it
i took awe from it
strength and woe formed a chasm
that sought to tear you from it
i didn't know your sign from far away
but i held your hand, fly by wire
and the plastic touch was enough for me
we survived the winter
when i finally saw the new spring
your leaves cradled my form
and i sat there, staring up at you
mystified by the breeze through your boughs
we talk through liminal hours
with fervor for the kind of speech
that passes from one yearning mind
into the senses of a other
i lay here, perched in your thoughts
your form merged with mine through thin sheets
i sleep through the night so soundly
knowing that we survived the gales
