<p>Every 4th of July, I&#x27;m the event photographer for celebrations in Monterey, CA where I work promoting small business. Nicknamed locally as the &quot;Language Capital of the World&quot; its remarkable diversity is always on display at its annual 4th of July parade and other celebrations. </p><p>Well, that&#x27;s in a normal year. Unfortunately the mood in Northern California as it has elsewhere in the United States has descended into a pall of fear and anxiety. <p>On Tyranny by Timothy Snyder is a valuable thing to have by your side in these times of increasing fascism.</p><p>Each chapter begins with a short bit of advice as it&#x27;s title, followed by a sentence or two on it&#x27;s potential importance. The rest of the chapter provides concrete historical examples.</p><p>Each chapter is short, and the book is only 126 pages. Not to run away, but instead to follow the scene. To keep filming.
