<p>💾 NEW PODCAST!💾 We've done lots of combat sims over the years, but never before under water, which is what 1993's Subwar 2050 by Particle Systems and Microprose is all about!</p><p>Some say it's merely "aquatic Wing Commander", but when you dive into it (pun intended) there's quite a unique experience to be had at the bottom of the sea!</p><p><a href="https://www.dosgameclub.com/subwar-2050/" rel="nofollow" class="ellipsis" title="www.dosgameclub.com/subwar-2050/"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">www.dosgameclub.com/subwar-205</span><span class="invisible">0/</span></a></p><p><a href="/tags/podcast/" rel="tag">#podcast</a> <a href="/tags/retrogaming/" rel="tag">#retroGaming</a> <a href="/tags/dosgaming/" rel="tag">#dosGaming</a></p>

<p>I finally broke out my Atari 7800+ and some of the games I'd picked up recently. Bently Bear's Crystal Quest is actually pretty great but you really need to use set the difficulty setting on the controller to"B" and use a good two-button gamepad like that RetroGameBoyz 7800 controller to play it properly.</p><p><a href="https://retrogameboyz.com/products/atari-2600-7800-controller-2600-joystick-control-pad-gamepad-rainbow" rel="nofollow" class="ellipsis" title="retrogameboyz.com/products/atari-2600-7800-controller-2600-joystick-control-pad-gamepad-rainbow"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">retrogameboyz.com/products/ata</span><span class="invisible">ri-2600-7800-controller-2600-joystick-control-pad-gamepad-rainbow</span></a></p><p><a href="/tags/atari/" rel="tag">#atari</a> <a href="/tags/atari7800/" rel="tag">#atari7800</a> <a href="/tags/retro/" rel="tag">#retro</a> <a href="/tags/retrogaming/" rel="tag">#retrogaming</a> <a href="/tags/retrogames/" rel="tag">#retrogames</a> <a href="/tags/retrogamers/" rel="tag">#retrogamers</a> <a href="/tags/classicgaming/" rel="tag">#classicgaming</a></p>
<p>Interplay‘s Lord of the Rings was the first big box game I bought from my own money. It was on sale at the local Karstadt mall. I never completed the game, but loved it so much! <p>💾 NEW PODCAST!💾 We took a look at MDK, developed by Shiny Entertainment and released in 1997.</p><p>This game is quite the change for the team who put this together, as previously they were known for bright cartoony platformers such as Cool Spot, Aladdin and Earthworm Jim.</p><p>But despite their unfamiliarity with developing 3D shooters, MDK was very well received at the time.</p><p>What's it like to play it now? Let's find out!</p><p><a href="https://www.dosgameclub.com/mdk/" rel="nofollow"><span class="invisible">https://</span>www.dosgameclub.com/mdk/</a></p><p><a href="/tags/dosgaming/" rel="tag">#dosGaming</a> <a href="/tags/retrogaming/" rel="tag">#retroGaming</a> <a href="/tags/podcast/" rel="tag">#podcast</a></p>

<p>💾 NEW PODCAST!💾 Our unintended but much appreciated streak of space-themed games continues with September's entry: Ascendancy (1995, The Logic Factory).</p><p>It's a 4X turn-based strategy game, much in the same vein as Master of Orion, which we discussed earlier in episode 024 (November 2018).</p><p>How do they compare? <p>💾NEW PODCAST!💾 We took a look at Machiavelli the Prince, developed by Holistic Design and published by Microprose in 1995.</p><p>The game has nothing to do with Machiavelli, who was from Florentine while the game is set in Venice, and who lived after the events of this game.</p><p>While not as famous as other MPS titles such as Colonization, there is a lot to love here. Computer Gaming World named it "Strategy game of the year" for a reason!</p><p><a href="https://www.dosgameclub.com/machiavelli-the-prince/" rel="nofollow" class="ellipsis" title="www.dosgameclub.com/machiavelli-the-prince/"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">www.dosgameclub.com/machiavell</span><span class="invisible">i-the-prince/</span></a></p><p><a href="/tags/dosgaming/" rel="tag">#dosGaming</a> <a href="/tags/retrogaming/" rel="tag">#retroGaming</a> <a href="/tags/podcast/" rel="tag">#podcast</a></p>
<p>The Legend of Kyrandia parts 1 through 3. which one is your favorite? I think I liked 2 the best, closely followed by 3. Part 1 had some lovely ideas, but the inventory management, the cave labyrinth and the end part were highly annoying. <br><a href="/tags/retrogaming/" rel="tag">#retrogaming</a> <a href="/tags/westwood/" rel="tag">#westwood</a> <a href="/tags/kyrandia/" rel="tag">#kyrandia</a></p>
