Christmas Lights in the Woods - I noticed the lights from our tree reflected in the window and glowing in the woods outside. It felt like the trees were decorated with the magic of the season. “There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature - the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.” ― Rachel Carson, The Sense of Wonder I keep walking to that same spot at the edge of the field, knowing exactly where to stand in those few meters and waiting at the last moment to turn my head to the right, knowing exactly what I will see. And yet the view is amazing every time. I have dozens of roughly similar photos of this wave of trees but which are also unique depending on the seasons, the light and the activities in the field. Birds in a spring forest is a handmade paper collage in portrait format by artist Karen Kaspar.
The picture shows three red birds sitting on slender branches of tall, slender trees. The tree trunks in dark brown tones stand out against the background in bright lime green colors. The first fresh light green leaves sprout from the branches.
The tree trunks and branches were painted on paper with acrylic paint and then mounted as a collage on the background painted with watercolors and combined with the watercolor birds.
The spring picture is minimalist and conveys a calm, relaxed and peaceful mood. The scene has a charming and whimsical feel with a simple composition.
The picture is part of my mini-series of four collages, each showing three red birds in the forest in the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter.
