<p>Twice now my <a href="/tags/gotosocial/" rel="tag">#GoToSocial</a> instance has gotten &quot;stuck&quot; for lack of a better word, where it refuses to federate out posts until restarted.</p><p>It seems to handle inbound federation fine, seems to be able to federate out favorites OK, possibly even DMs, but posts and replies don&#x27;t go anywhere.</p><p>I&#x27;m not seeing anything obvious in my logs, just the absence of any activity posting to other instances&#x27; /inbox.</p><p>Has anyone seen anything like this?</p><p><a href="/tags/homelab/" rel="tag">#homelab</a> <a href="/tags/selfhosted/" rel="tag">#selfhosted</a></p>

You had to dig. <p>Would you help a poor single-user Friendica server admin out and boost this post?</p><p>Boosting will increase the number of servers my server federates with.</p><p>Thanks!</p><p>EDIT: that is probably not exactly how it works, but it kinda depends on which of the myriad of ActivityPub servers is seeing the boost, and I haven&#x27;t checked all of them on how they decide what to pull in. For sure, having someone follow an account on the friendica server will have that friendica server push updates to the server of the follower, but other than that? Under the hood update!<br><br>I’ve finally retired the old cron + sh setup for the weather bots. It served us well, but it had a major flaw: if I rebooted the server while it was posting, the job just died halfway. If the server was down during a scheduled slot, the forecast was lost forever.<br><br>So, I wrote a custom Python daemon to run inside the FreeBSD Jails.<br><br><p>It’s stateful now.
