how have you made signal more tolerable, less disruptive, easier to use?
I have some ideas and wanna share what I've done but I assume others have some methods that would be helpful to include!
End-to-End Encryption is good but metadata protection counts as much. Names, group descriptions and memberships, avatars, who talks to whom ...
Both #deltachat and #signal go to great length to protect all the metadata that WhatsApp grants itself gratuitously. #Matrix stores similar scales of metadata on their servers, even if you can choose which server stores it.
Everything is better than #Telegram which additionally stores message contents in all group chats/channels and most 1:1 chats.

I am very sorry for you to need to cope with this:
the best option for private chatting TODAY when it comes to #security, usability/user-friendly, #resilience, #digitalindependence and #freedom is #DeltaChat a chat app that uses #SMTP + #IMAP at its backbone, not your favorite "perfect" chat protocol, you don't need new better protocols, you need tools that actually work for the people

As some of you may know, we're building Flatline, a self‑hostable soft fork of the Signal Server. It lets you run a mostly Signal‑compatible server for research and private deployments.
We already run a Flatline server in Bahnhof cloud for internal development.

То, что иногда проходят сообщения на английском, касательно его – они направлены на зарубежного читателя с разными целями. Но то, что иногда публикуется здесь на русском, касательно его, то #регистрация в Signal на росс. мобильный номер телефона вполне реальна.
